This week, Jane Dougherty’s Poetry Challenge uses a form of poetry called a Cascade. This form of poetry is four stanzas of three lines. The first line becomes the last line of the second stanza. The second line is the last line of the third stanza. The third line is the final line of the fourth stanza.

Forest Queen

Proudly, she stands in watchful silence
Her dark tresses rippling in the wind
Majestic forest queen

An eagle soars overhead
She raises one hand in salute
Proudly, she stands in watchful silence

Her post, she will never abandon
She stands firm in the gathering storm

A cascade of water rushes down
To worship at her feet
