Storm

I wrote this kyrielle a few days ago, before my back decided to betray me. It’s been a few rough days of pain. Okay, agony. I wish I could say I was feeling better, but I’m not. I’m merely resigned to the pain until I start acupuncture and physical therapy. Anyway, I revisited this poem today, and realized it wasn’t really complete after all. I added another stanza and I’m reasonably pleased with the result.

Storm

My mind won’t let me sleep tonight
I know that something isn’t right
Danger is blowing on the wind
I can feel a storm moving in

Lightning illuminates the gloom
Of this depressing, silent tomb
A cold downpour will soon begin
I can feel a storm moving in

I watch you sleeping by my side
I wish that I could turn the tide
Go back in time and start again
I can feel a storm moving in

It won’t be long before you know
The secrets hidden in my soul
One day I will confess my sin
I can feel a storm moving in
