It’s a cold winter day and I’m home ill. Lying on the sofa, looking out through a sliver of opening between the curtains, I can see our neighbor’s tree, its naked branches stretching across the gray sky. And so this haiku sequence formed in my mind:
Skeletal branches
Stretch across the leaden sky
Yearning for the sun
Heavy clouds hang low
Threatening impending doom
Calm before the snow
Beautiful writing.

Thanks, Kay. The picture is a stock photo I’ve used in the past. I was too lazy/sick to get off the sofa to take a photo.

Well, it fits perfectly. And I sympathize with feeling lazy – I’ve been that way all month. It seems like by the time I get home at night, I’m too worn out to even want to do anything, and I always have a million things to do at night. I actually got off work a couple hours early today and am trying to make the most of it. 🙂
