It seems I’m always apologizing for my absence and then listing excuses for why I haven’t posted in so long. I’ve been busy trying to rewrite and edit Firebound (book two in the Spellbringers series), and I’m happy to announce I was able to publish the book to Kindle last night. Hopefully, I’ll have the paperback formatted this weekend and it will be available by mid-September.
I’ve published three books this year. Sounds like I’m a fairly prolific writer doesn’t it? Well, I’m not. I haven’t written a book this year. Better than Perfect was written last year and published in May. Spellbound was previously published and Firebound was written three years ago, but on hold due to circumstances beyond my control. While I’m pretty excited to finally get these books out there, I’m also anxious to get back to writing. I have a feeling book three in the Spellbringers series is going to give me ample opportunities to stretch my creative muscles. I re-read the book a few weeks ago and it’s a mess. It’s going to require some extensive rewrites.
It has been interesting returning to books I wrote three years ago. I’ve changed a lot as a writer. I’ve kicked some bad habits and developed new ones. My earlier works tend to be very wordy with scenes that add nothing to the plot or to character development. I don’t know if my writing has gotten better or worse, but it has definitely changed over the past few years.
For now, I’ll cease my rambling and get to work on CreateSpace formatting. If you’re interested in grabbing a copy of Firebound, here’s the link:

Even if you haven’t actually written the books this year, revising, editing and formatting is a hell of a job in itself, so I say congratulations, and best of luck with Firebound. Is the girl on the cover Rachel? It’s very much as I imagine her.

Editing and formatting are now such integral parts of writing, aren’t they? And think of it this way Tricia, you might not have prepared new material, but you have a window to address some pieces you can now turn into stunning work! That’s a major positive.

Thank you! I love the cover. It was surprisingly difficult to find a stock photo that featured a model of exactly the right age, who is pretty, but not seductive. I’m so fortunate to have found this photo. My friend, Maegan Provan, created the cover and I couldn’t be happier.

Well done! Isn’t it amazing how, with time, our perspective changes and we write differently? I keep going back to my first book and I want to re-write it because my writing style has changed. Congrats!

Oh, yes. I cringe when I look at some of my earlier work. When I think about my very first draft of my very first novel (and the fact that I actually let people read it) I want to hang my head in shame. It’s good that our writing style changes and that we’re constantly improving. That means we’re open to growth.
