Do you know what today is? It’s Day Five of the Ten Day Book Challenge, of course. Before I begin, I would like to thank my friend and fellow author Rami Ungar for tagging me to participate.
If you’re new to this challenge, here are the rules:
- Thank whoever nominated you with big, bold print. If they have a blog, link to the post where you got tagged there.
- Explain the rules.
- Post the cover of a book that was influential on you or that you love dearly.
- Explain why.
- Tag someone else to do the challenge, and let them know they’ve been tagged.
There are so many books that have influenced me over the years, it’s hard to choose between them, but today I’m going WAY back into the past!
As a little girl, I loved to read. The Little House on the Prairie books were my favorites. I read every single book I could find by Laura Ingalls Wilder, beginning with the book featured above – Little House in the Big Woods. One of my most vivid memories from around the third grade is waking up really early on a Saturday morning while the whole household was still asleep. (I’m talking way before Saturday morning cartoons were on!) I would sit on the sofa in the living room, quietly reading one of my Little House books. Oh, how I adored this series and the characters in it. I would love to have the time to re-read these books one day!
If you would like to take a walk down memory lane and share your favorite books, I am tagging you – yes, YOU – to participate. You can participate by posting on your own blog or on Facebook, if you’d like. It’s lots of fun!
We had this whole series when I was a kid. I loved them!

I also read the Nancy Drew books and Lassie, but I really credit the Little House series with getting me hooked on books.

I think they assigned us to read it in school a long, long time ago. I don’t know, I could be confusing it for another book.

They might have done so. It was a very popular series back in the day.

If only I had a time machine. I could be sure then. I probably wouldn’t go back in time just to check that little detail, but I could.

Oh I loved them too. I wanted to travel across the plains with Ma, Pa, Mary and dog Jack. I should reread them!

I would love to reread them. The series sparked my imagination and it was my first experience with historical fiction.
