Poetry Challenge: Tears

Jane Dougherty’s poetry challenge this week is based on a charcoal drawing by Odilon Redon entitled ‘Tears.’

The challenge also suggests using the following prompt words: tears, horizon, fly, hue, stealing

Here’s what I came up with:

Standing ‘neath the blazing sun,
hair streaming strands of golden hue
your gaze is fixed on the horizon.
I can’t take my eyes off you.
I know you’ll steal away tonight
no matter how many tears I cry
My pleas will not deter you
for you were meant to fly

Please be sure to stop by Jane Dougherty’s blog to read the various entries. They are simply amazing! https://janedougherty.wordpress.com/2016/05/04/poetry-challenge-29-tears/
