Dreaming

Everyone has a dream, but how many of us work toward achieving it? There are some of us who are so out of touch with our dreams, we can’t readily identify what they are. I know. I’ve been there. I had a vague dream of leaving my day job, of doing something different, but I wasn’t sure what it was I actually wanted to do. By the time I was halfway through writing the first draft of The Claiming Words, I found my dream.

Not every teenager leaves high school with a clear idea of what they want to do for the rest of their lives. For those who do graduate with a career goal, they may be surprised to discover that plans can change ten years (or even thirty years) down the line. That’s the wonderful thing about life–everything changes, even our dreams. And, that’s why we need to reach out and learn as much as we can. You never know when that book you never thought you’d enjoy, or that trip you didn’t want to take, or that spontaneous drive down a country road can push your life in a new direction, thus giving you a new goals to strive for.

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” ~ C.S. Lewis

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” ~ Dr. Seuss

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” ~ John Lennon

Such a lovely sentiment. I’m facing a big birthday this year, that, well, I’m not looking forward to. We’re all getting older and knowing that we can still follow our dreams at any age and still have new ones is such a wonderfully liberating thing! You’re never too old for an adventure in mind, body or spirit! 😀 xx

    • Thank you, Sophie. I’m glad you’ve realized your dream recently with the publication of your first book. And, the lovely Kate Jack just realized her dream of holding her own hardback book in her hands. I think 2013 is going to be a wonderful year for dreaming, don’t you?
